Elva Jane Snyder

My mother passed away on July thirty-first. You can find a short obituary here.

This has caused me to reflect quite a bit on death, and on the promises of God. In Psalm 119 King David says, “By your words I can see where I’m going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path.” C.S. Lewis often said that we are living in the shadow lands, the real world awaits us. We know that because God describes it vividly to us in the last chapters of Revelation.

Ruth and I were encouraged to hear my mother calling on God’s mercy, stating her belief in the son of God, last week. He is close to those who call upon him.

“Long before He laid down earth’s foundations, He had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of His love, to be made whole and holy by His love.’” (Ephesians 1:4, The Message).

    Dear David and Ruth,
Jane and I have prayed with you much over the past week or so. Our journey with Jane’s Mom is similar, although aparently prolonged. We know Elva was blessed to live in your home these past years. We know you were blessed by having her. We celebrate her life with you.

    Doug & Jane.
